Unlike most sofa beds, which are made with foam filling, it’s composed of 325 pocket springs.
The pocket spring filling provides a comfortable but supportive sleeping surface.

We tried the Bruno chair bed as part of our daily routine.
We immediately noticed that the padding is much thicker than on conventional armchairs.
This is mainly due to the 325-pocket spring core of the sleeping chair offering high support. 💪
This is great for people who weigh a little more or people who prefer a firmer seat cushion.
We found it particularly comfortable to spend an afternoon relaxing in the armchair or watching TV in the evening.
The back cushion is also well-filled, further contributing to the comfort.
Converting the Bruno chair into a bed
To convert the chair into a bed, begin by removing the back cushion.
Next, take the hand strap at the front, place your foot on the fold-out aid and pull.
Finally, place the back cushion in the small storage space and push the backrest forward.
Voilà! Your Bruno chair bed is ready to sleep in. 😴
Bruno chair bed sleeping comfort
The Bruno chair bed is a little on the firmer side due to the pocket spring core.
Our two testers (weighing 80 and 95 kg) slept on it for a few nights without a topper.
Both experienced a comfortable sleep and felt supported throughout the night. 🥰
Unlike traditional coil springs, which are interlinked and create a bouncy feeling, the pocket springs in the Bruno chair bed are individually packed.
This means they work independently and do not transfer any movement, reducing disturbance during sleep.
However, the sleeping surface is quite limited, so you don't have much room to spread out. 🤸
This doesn’t pose too much of a problem for smaller adults and children.
However, larger people may find it a little too tight.
Overall, we found the Bruno chair bed provided firm and supportive comfort for a few nights without the need for a mattress topper.
But those on the lighter side may feel more comfortable adding a topper for a touch more softness. ☁️
Sleeping on the Bruno chair bed with a topper
Next, we tested the comfort of the Bruno chair bed with the addition of a topper.
Our testers found this to be much more comfortable. ✔️
This extra 3 cm (1.18) layer of comfort provided pressure relief on the hips and shoulders.
Therefore, we’d recommend side sleepers use a topper with the Bruno chair bed.
You should ensure the topper is available in size 70 x 200 cm / 27.5 x 78.7” to fit the chair bed snugly.
Unfortunately, the Bruno topper isn’t available in the UK. ❌
Overall, the Bruno chair bed is very comfortable and supportive, especially with the addition of a topper.
However, because of the limited width, we would only recommend it as a single guest bed and not for everyday use.
Is the Bruno chair bed good quality?
Ensuring your new furniture's materials are high-quality and long-lasting is important.
Fortunately, the Bruno chair bed passed our quality test.
Bruno makes the chair bed with solid pine wood, a sustainably sourced natural material which is certified by the FSC [1]. 🌳
The chair can withstand more weight by using a robust material like wood, with a layer of felt around the wood that offers protection to prevent any damage.
The actual armchair cover is made from 100% polyester with an abrasion rating of 81,000 Martindale [2].
This refers to the wear number of fabric, with anything between 20,000 - 30,000 [3] being good for general domestic use. 🏡
The high score for the Bruno chair bed signifies this is a very durable and long-lasting fabric.
Bruno also uses screws in the design instead of wood glue.
This means you can easily disassemble the Bruno chair bed if you move.🛠️

The delivery came in two medium-sized boxes, with the friendly couriers offering to take the items to our room of choice. 📦

Thanks to the high-quality tools provided, assembly was a breeze. 🍃
It took our two testers around 20 minutes until the Bruno chair bed was completely assembled.
All we had to do was put the individual parts together and secure them with the included screws.
It was really easy to screw in the feet and attach the felt pads.
This attention to detail ensured we could move the Bruno chair bed without any hassle or risk of scratches on the floor.
Overall, setting up the Bruno sofa bed was a pleasant experience, showing that the product is not only very good quality, but also user-friendly.
